An Arkansas teen was found dead in a Mississippi forest days after he told his mom he was going on a date with a classmate.
Wilson told his mom, Shirley Howell, that he was going on a date with his classmate earlier this month but never came home, Howell told WREG. She later learned that he was with someone else.
"My son didn't have any enemies, nor was he a trouble child, he worked, went to school, and played his game he was a pure momma's boy," Howell wrote on Facebook.
Investigators tracked down Wilson's phone near the forest in Yalobusha County, but his body wasn't found until a U.S. Forest Service employee spotted it.
"We searched the area for over six hours Tuesday night, but were unsuccessful," Yalobusha County Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch told Fox 13. "The area is very remote."
Authorities haven't released the teen's cause or manner of death. However, Howell said she was told her son was found with gunshot wounds.
The mother said Wilson was last seen on security footage with a woman at a McDonald's in West Memphis.
No arrests have been made in the case.
"Sadly, it wasn't the outcome we wanted," Sheriff Gooch said, per Fox 13. "Our focus is on this investigation, making an arrest, and providing answers and closure for his family. Our prayers go out to them."
